FEST: I AM WOOF

17 July 2010

Saturday 17th July, 7.30pm

An outstanding new theatre performance that explores the extreme emotions of war and the difficulty of articulating them. I am Woof  is based on verbatim material taken from three soldiers all at different points in their service, this play gives voice to what it means to be going to Afghanistan and how it feels to reintegrate into society upon coming home.

I am Woof is a solo performance that attempts to give a voice to soldiers experiencing modern warfare, from a graduate young officer describing his experiences in training and beyond, a gulf war veteran sharing his opinions on the current conflict and others like, it to a working class South African who joined the army because he “…didn’t have anything else to do, well not anything as important anyway”.

The piece has enjoyed success in an array a venues including the CPT, New Diorama, The Etcetera Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre and many more. After a well-received performance at The Bike Shed Theatre as part of The Exeter Fringe Festival, I am Woof will be performed in The Space @ Surgeons Hall, Theatre 3 at the The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010.  I am Woof is supported by ScenePool theatre production company.
